Extrusion Setter/Operator (St Leonards-on-Sea)

Our client is a leading manufacturing company based in St Leonard-on-Sea, East Sussex. They are currently looking for an experienced Extrusion Setter/Operator to join their hardworking team in the extrusion department.

 

Job Description

As an Extrusion Setter/Operator, you will be operating all machinery within the H.S.E regulations, setting and changing tooling on the extrusion machinery and ensuring that starting up and shut down procedures for the extrusion machines are performed correctly and safely.

 

Main Duties

  • To carry out duties in accordance with instructions as detailed on the works orders.

  • To operate all machinery within the H.S.E regulations (when trained and when required).

  • To set and change tooling on the extrusion machinery.

  • To ensure the starting up and shut down procedures for the extrusion machines are performed correctly and safely.

  • To monitor the day-to-day tasks of all staff working on extrusion machines and deal with any issues or problems as appropriate or report them to the Manager.

  • To follow drawings where detailed and applicable.

  • To ensure all dies are cleaned, sprayed and polished within a reasonable time frame but no longer than a week after use.

  • To move completed pipe jobs to the yard to ensure space is kept available.

  • To maintain an organised and clean working area ensuring that all spills are cleaned as soon as possible but always ensuring the pedestrian walkway is clear.

  • To work to instructions as laid down by the Manager.

  • To ensure quality checks are carried out in accordance with the Company procedures.

  • To ensure all work detail is in accordance with the Company’s Health and Safety policy.

 

Qualification’s Skills and Experience

  • Must have a NVQ in Engineering or over a year’s experience working within plastic extrusion as a setter/operator

  • Basic math skills for measurements and calculations

  • Mechanical knowledge and understanding of machinery and equipment.

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.

  • Proficient in English, written and verbal.

  • Effective communication skills both written and oral

  • Competent in using Microsoft office applications.

  • Ability to maintain, influence and develop relationships.

  • Problem solver and decision maker

  • Willingness to learn and develop.

  • Strong mindfulness and ability to follow instructions accurately.

 

Working Hours

  • 42 hours a week, Monday to Thursday 6am to 5pm (10.5 hours per day) with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break and a 15-minute paid tea break.
